Story of Artemisia
Linda M. Smith performs: Story of Artemisia-a musical performance about post Renaissance woman painter Artemesia, Fri Oct16, 8pm. at Life Force Arts Center, 3148 N. Lincoln in Chicago. This event is part of "Emergence of the Divine Feminine" art exhibit and festival which runs to the end of October.
Artemisia was a woman, ahead of her time, creating and painting in an era when women did not work or paint for a living. Trained by her artist father, she sets an example for the modern woman and is in a sense one of our collective anscestors!
If you live in the Chicago area, don't miss this beautiful performance. For more information, visit www.lifeforcearts.org.

Spontaneous Art Creation
Special Event!
Spontaneous Art Creation by Eulalio Fabie de Silva for
the Emergence of the Divine Feminine Festival
Thursday, October 8, 2009, 7pm-Free admission; love donations gratefully accepted
See the Divine Feminine in action, flowing through Chicago artist Eulalio Fabie de Silva’s spontaneous creation of art on Thursday, October 8, at 7 p.m. at Life Force Arts Center, 3148 N Lincoln, Chicago. This event is part of the Emergence of the Divine Feminine Festival taking place during the month of October as part of Chicago Artists Month. See a video of the exhibit in previous post.
The art exhibit has already received rave reviews, and the artwork created during this performance art/ritual event will become part of the exhibit that runs through October 31. For more information, contact 773-327-7224 or www.lifeforcearts.org
Eulalio’s “Impromtu/Intuition Painting” will begin with audience participation in a ceremony to the Divine Feminine, which will help to inspire the divine flow. While the painting proceeds, the audience will be invited to join in with chanting, singing, music, dancing, or to sit quietly and observe or meditate.
The theme chosen for this live painting exhibition will be Quan Yin, the Eastern counterpart of the Virgin Mary. She is revered by Taoists and Buddhists in Eastern Asia as a “Bodhisattva” incarnate, the Goddess of Mercy.
“The lusciousness of the paint being dragged onto a white and serene canvas is akin to the birth of one’s life,” says Eulalio, “an intro to the vastness of life to come… The creativity coincides with the Divine Feminine.”
Eulalio’s art is highly colorful and vibrant. It will be a gift to witness and participate in this creation energy of the Divine Feminine as expressed through this talented artist. For more information on de Silva’s work, visit his website.

Emergence of the Divine Feminine
Join us for the Opening Reception of Emergence of the Divine Feminine Art Exhibit and Festival, Friday October 2, 5pm to 10pm, in Chicago. I was one of the organizers for this beautiful show and will be showing art there. Press Release is below with details!
“Emergence Of The Divine Feminine” Multi-Arts Festival, Oct 1- 31, 2009
Chicago,IL - Showcasing the diverse work of over twenty international artists, Emergence of the Divine Feminine brings together visual artists, musicians, and speakers for a month long multi-arts festival, October 1 - 31 at Life Force Arts Center (3148 N Lincoln Ave, Chicago). A variety of artistic mediums will be represented including drawing, painting, shamanic dance, video, live music, ritual, and a presentation by celebrated spiritual author Andrew Harvey. As part of Chicago Artists Month, Emergence of the Divine Feminine brings compassion and loving kindness to Chicago with this inspirational artwork. The festival's opening reception is on October 2nd at 5pm. For more information, contact 773-327-7224 www.LifeForceArts.org
.
The Divine Feminine Cultures have been creating art inspired by the female aspect of God since the earliest times. In the past this idea has manifested itself in various forms such as Goddess, Great Mother, Mother Earth, Mother Nature, and Divine Mother of the Universe. Emergence of the Divine Feminine exhibits art that explores different ways in which this theme wants to be expressed for our modern times: Bold, Beautiful, and Powerful.
In the call for visual art, the organizers posed an open question: What is the Divine Feminine? The artistic response was as interesting as it was diverse. In the process of creating their work, some artists have undergone an intense inner exploration to find their own divine nature. “Some of the work is more energetic than literal,” says festival creator and contributor Laurel Smith. “It has a feeling quality that creates an experience that is far more powerful than just looking at artwork. We are all here to awaken our own divine nature”. Emergence of the Divine Feminine has a powerful energetic component that the audience can absorb; the artwork acts as a transformational conduit.
Artists in the show come from around the country and the globe. Deborah Eidson, a clairvoyant photographer from Texas has several pieces in the show. Her perceptive photography seems to penetrate the veils of the unknown, giving us a glimpse into another realm, rich with the birthing energies that formed our Universe. Victoria Christian, a mystical artist from Oregon, will be showing her video entitled, “Feminine Mysticism in Art: Artists Envisioning the Divine”. This colorful and inspirational slide show of transcendental art synchronized to uplifting music is a stunning collaboration of artworks by over fifty contemporary visionary artists from an assortment of spiritual traditions. Several prominent Chicago artists will be featured in the show, including Pat Otto, Michael Zieve, and Sharka Glet. Sharka will be presenting depictions of four Archangels in feminine form. These vibrant paintings convey a powerful new idea about the identity and essence of traditionally masculine icons. All artwork on display will be available for sale.
With events throughout the month of October, Emergence of the Divine Feminine will have its opening reception on October 2nd at 5pm and will feature an acoustic music performance by Massachusetts' Faebotica. Video presentations will be shown at A La Turka Turkish Kitchen (3134 N Lincoln Ave). The festival will also have a few events before the reception including including a workshop by author Andrew Harvey on September 30 and a performance by Australian singer/songwriter Wendy Rule on October 1st.
Emergence of the Divine Feminine is about people becoming in touch with themselves, with aspects of their personality that they might be unfamiliar with. The show offers the rare chance to be touched by something powerful and beautiful. Emergence of the Divine Feminine is a spiritually uplifting event that is meant to bring inspiration, healing, and transformation to its audience.

Spiritual Art and Spiritual Awakening, Healing, Transformation
The discussion continues....
I welcome you, the viewer, to participate in this discussion. You can scroll down and read previous posts about events and thoughts.
Consider these questions:
What is spiritual art?
Is there a difference between spiritual art, visionary art and mystical art?
How can art heal, transform or spiritually awaken the viewer? and how does this happen?
How does art heal, transform or spiritually awaken the creator/artist/performer?
During a performance of music, sound, dance, theater, how can the audience experience healing, transformation, change, shift, awakening, release, catharsis?
How does the spiritual manifest in words, written and spoken?
What is the power of the word?
Does the viewer/audience need to be open to receiving? How open does the viewer/audience need to be?
Thoughts from a previous post...
"As the lines between art, performance and spirituality become blurred we find that art becomes a pathway for spiritual healing, transformation and awakening. Whether visual art, performance or writings read or spoken, the energetic transmissions of light, sound, color, movement become catalysts for internal change as the DNA codes actually wake up in the brain and allow the individual to be more complete, more whole. This can be a conscious or unconscious process for the viewer. Change can be spontaneous. Awareness or awakening can be spontaneous, immediate, sudden. Healing can take place in an instant.
We have a component of the science of energy and quantum physics at play here.
On the spiritual level, we have the opportunity for Grace to flow through."

Opening Night Photos ~ 1st Annual Chicago Festival of Spiritual Art
Louise Cloutier observes the art exhibit.
Opening night at the Chicago Festival of Spiritual Art ~
Incredible art, great music and the magic of Louise Cloutier singing musical portraits for the art. She works spontaneously in the moment with guided sound and song to make the visible audible.
Unusual, unexpected, original....these are words that come to mind when I think of Louise singing. The artists each reacted mixtures of surprise, joy and laughter.

What is spiritual art? This discussion will be on going at the Life Force Arts Center, 3148 N. Lincoln Avenue in Chicago.
Some wonderful artists were at the center today to hang the art that will be showing for the next week and during the 1st Annual Chicago Festival of Spiritual Art May 22-25. In viewing the visual art we see an incredibly broad range of styles, subject, energy and meaning.
Art by Laurel Smith
Throughout the weekend innovative performances and presentations, as well as panel discussions will explore the extremes and depths of spiritual art. Some of these events will be truly cutting edge in the realm of consciousness.
So, what is spiritual art?
Panel Discussion #1 - 3pm to 4pm Saturday, May 23
Words and Spirit
How does Spirit manifest in words? Along with images (I Mages), words are the content of our magic tool box, shaping our reality. we have created a bifurcated language, one side of which is objective, material, scientific, the other spiritual, poetic, metaphoric. Putting them together puts us back together. The art of living is finding what gives us joy; hearing again the Original Magical Language.
Panel Discussion#2 - 6pm to 7 pm, Saturday, May 23
Theater, Magic and the Energy Field
Theater and ritual both work with the human energy field. Join our panelists as they discuss the commonalities of theater and energy work practices.
Panel Discussion #3 - 11am to 12 pm Sunday, May 24
The Art of Being an Audience
When we approach observing art (being the audience) as spiritual practice and spiritual healing, whole new meanings and purposes of art emerge. The interaction of the artist and audience is entirely different when the audience "gets" the art at this level. Vice versa, the audience member can consciously utilize any art as a powerful tool of spiritual connection
and healing. Our panelists discuss personal and professional experiences of the Conscious Audience.
Panel Discussion #4 - 4 pm to 5pm, Sunday, May 25
Story, Energy and Iconography
Different approaches to spiritual art.
The performances, visual art and presentations soften the boundaries between the arts and the spirit and fully integrates them as a whole.
So, what is spiritual art?
Come this weekend and find out.
Come for new experiences, ideas, perceptions, feelings and sensations.
Join us for the discussion.

I had a dream that I was on the Planet Mercury and
when I awoke, felt the energy of Mercury with me and
speaking to me. I knew that I needed to express this
energy and feeling through my art and sat down immediately
